Flying clubs are nearly as old as aviation itself. One club, The Reading Aero Club of Pennsylvania was founded in 1932 and still exists today.
Members own shares or fractions of an airplane or a corporation that owns the airplane. Instead of dropping $100,000 on their own used plane, owners can buy a share of the plane for the price of a car. They share the expenses of insurance, hangar space, and annual inspections and maintenance.
